01 Why schools

Train students on modern automated manufacturing.

Students need more than arc time. They need a way to connect fit-up, parameters, robot motion, inspection, material behavior, and evidence. AMR brings that loop into a classroom-ready cell for high-tech high schools, CTE centers, and engineering academies.

CTE-ready manufacturing

A modern lab platform for welding, robotics, mechatronics, CAD and CAM, inspection, and materials-science pathways.

High-tech high school fit

Students work from readable tasks, digital evidence, controller inputs, and capstone-style projects instead of watching a closed robot demo.

Weld data on every run

Students see how parameters, geometry, material, and inspection connect, because the cell records all of it.

Teacher-governed safety

Instructor approval, locked process limits, safety gates, and review checkpoints keep the machine inside approved training envelopes.

02 Game-like controlsSteam Deck teach pendant

Familiar controls on an industrial robot.

The controls follow gamepad conventions students know from robotics competitions and simulators, with clear inputs, immediate feedback, and staged levels of responsibility.

  • Gamepad-style controlStudents learn jog, aim, confirm, run, pause, and review through familiar controller behavior before they touch advanced settings.
  • Guided lesson modesEach lesson follows a production sequence: scan the part, set the path, choose the recipe, run the weld, inspect the result.
  • Fast feedbackThe cell shows geometry, fit-up, process signals, and inspection results during and immediately after each run.
  • Instructor dashboardTeachers bound what students control, reset exercises, review evidence, and guide the class through safe procedure changes.

03 Lesson sequence

Specify, control, run, measure, adapt.

Define the problem, control the machine, run the approved process, measure what happened, and explain how the next attempt should improve.

  1. Specify. Define the part, joint, material, safety envelope, and quality goal.
  2. Control. Use guided, game-like controller inputs to set up motion and confirm the weld plan.
  3. Run. Execute the approved weld inside teacher-controlled process limits.
  4. Measure. Capture scans, process signals, inspection images, and material-test evidence.
  5. Adapt. Compare results, explain what changed, and improve the next attempt.
04 Lab tracks

One cell for welding, metrology, metallurgy, robotics, and AI.

Students see the full chain from CAD and GD&T to weld execution, inspection, metallurgical evidence, and data-driven improvement.

Welding lab

Travel speed, power, torch angle, seam path, heat input, bead shape, and WPS-style thinking made visible.

Metrology and GD&T

Students scan parts, compare geometry to intent, read tolerance stackups, and learn why measurement drives manufacturing quality.

Metallurgy

Heat, material, distortion, hardness, bend tests, macrographs, and failure analysis in the same classroom workflow.

Robotics and AI

RosieOS, AMR's controller software, is open source under Apache 2.0. It connects motion, sensing, safety gates, logging, and machine-learning ideas in a way students can inspect.

05 CTE pathway

From first lab to a complete learning path.

Students finish with portfolios that show they can read prints, control a machine, inspect parts, and explain material behavior.

  1. Foundation manufacturing lab. Safety habits, coordinated motion, weld vocabulary, measurement basics, and digital shop discipline.
  2. Advanced CTE pathway. Welding, metrology, metallurgy, robotics, and data analysis through production-style projects.
  3. Capstone and employer projects. Portfolios with part files, scan data, weld records, inspection evidence, and presentations local manufacturers understand.
